Behold, this magnificent story about a marvelous creature -- the Lord Howe stick insect,
Dryococelus australis -- thought to be extinct but then miraculously found on a single plant on a craggy remote rock island. It is a triumph of science and human effort and most of all, perseverance of a fascinating species.
